Norman Richards - Minister of Pastoral Care
Norman Richards, Minister of Pastoral Care - was born in McRae, Arkansas, in 1938. His father
died suddenly the day following Norman's birth leaving his mother with the tremendous
responsibility of raising and supporting the family as a single mom. Norman attributes his
conversion to Jesus Christ at an early age to the godly example and teaching of his mother.
After graduation from high school, having answered God's call at age 16 to the ministry and to
missionary service, Norman began his years of preparation at Free Will Baptist Bible College,
Nashville, TN., where he received a BA in Bible and missions. He pursued graduate studies in
missions at Columbia International University, Columbia, S.C.
Wedding bells chimed for Norman
and Bessie Huntsman at South Heights Free Will Baptist Church, Searcy, AR., their hometown, on
September 28, 1963. God has blessed them with two wonderful sons, Norman Eugene (1967) and Randal
Lynn (1971) and four grandchildren.
The Richards served as missionaries in Cote d'Ivoire, West
Africa, from 1966 - 1994 under the Free Will Baptist Foreign Missions Board. Before their arrival
in Cote d'Ivoire, both Norman and Bessie received diplomas from Alliance Francaise (headquartered
in Paris, France) following french language studies in Lausanne, Switzerland. When health
problems terminated missionary service in tropical Africa, the Richards returned to the States
and served from 1995 - 2001 under Free Will Baptist Home Mission Board in Slidell, LA., and the
New Orleans area. Norman joined the staff at The Donelson Fellowship in January, 2002 and looks
forward to ministering to TDF families and others in the Nashville area.
