Upward Basketball Season Begins

February 6

Join us Saturday mornings at TDF and cheer on our Upward Basketball players and cheerleaders! Games begin at 10, 11, and 12 every Saturday through March 24th. There is no cost to attend.
Upward Sports provides our church an avenue to serve families inside and outside of TDF by providing a high quality basketball league that parents and kids love. Upward is based on the mission that every child is a winner, and Upward coaches and referees help instill this into every player with encouragement. Not only do kids learn fundamentals that can get them ready for middle school and high school ball, they are also taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
TDF’s Upward Sports program is directed by Jennifer Leak and is in it’s ninth year of existence. This year we have over 80 players and 7 cheerleaders.

March 4: A Night of Praise & Sacred Song

January 4

Make plans now to join The Donelson Fellowship on Sunday, March 4 as Pastor Morgan, Corey Hawkins, and our TDF musicians lead us on a tour of Christian hymnody, from the oldest hymns in the hymnbooks to the newest praise-and-worship songs on the radio.

In just over an hour, we’ll cover 3500 years of Christian song, teaching the story of God’s Music. You’ll hear songs originating from Scripture, Gregorian chant and medieval melody, German hymns, selections from the Golden Age of English hymnody, the Gospel songs of Fanny Crosby, and the contemporary Christian music we love today. Pastors Morgan and Hawkins will briefly describe each era, and we’ll end the hour on a high note!

This evening will be a worship service, a course in Christian history, and a survey of church music—all rolled up in one exciting experience.

This day also marks the release of Pastor Morgan’s book at TDF, Then Sings My Soul Book 3, which will be available at all services that day for sale by our student ministries. All proceeds will go toward their upcoming Youth Equator Missions Trip. Our special guest for the day will be Matt Baugher, Senior Vice President and Publisher at Thomas Nelson, who is himself a hymn-lover and gifted musician.

In the long-awaited third and final volume of his series, Then Sings My Soul, Pastor Morgan tells the stories behind some of the greatest of our hymns, tells usabout a few of the best hymns you've never heard, and expands the material to include the great history of worship, the first biblical hymns, six very special stories related to our hymnbooks, and how we can best use our hymnals in both public and in private.

One chapter of this book articulates the music philosophy that guides the planning of our worship services and song selections here at The Donelson Fellowship. The book ends with a unique evangelist appeal, based on the message of the great hymns of the church.

So… don’t plan anything else for March 4, and join us for a night of praise and sacred song at KALEO at 6 p.m.
