Families in our church are experiencing milestone moments in their lives all the time. The birth of a child. The dedication of that child to God. That child accepting Christ as their personal Savior and following the Lord in baptism. These and other significant events in a child’s life are meant to be more than just perfect photo opportunities. We want to help families celebrate and commemorate these milestones for the spiritually significant times they are. It is with this in mind we are formally launching TDF Milestones.
TDF Milestones have been around in some form or another for many years. We want to formalize this more in 2011. The four TDF Milestones are:
1. Baby Dedication
2. Children’s Salvation/Baptism
3. Preparing for Adolescence
4. College Ready
Each of these are significant moments in the life of a child or young adult. We want to offer special encouragement and training for parents and children/young adults at each Milestone.
What is involved in each Milestone?
Baby Dedication - Parents who wish to dedicate their child will be invited to a session covering material written by our Pastor on the significance of baby dedications and what this means in today’s world. This session will be taught in January, March, May, August and October during the 8:45 worship service in the Marge Miller Room.
Children’s Salvation/Baptism - For many years young children who expressed an interest or a desire to accept Christ or be baptized were taught basic salvation and baptism teachings through our Pastor’s little booklet, My John 3:16 Book. This book has now been published under the name, Knowing, Showing and Growing. This material will be covered in three sessions on Wednesday nights at 5:30 Children's Pastor, Steve Greenwood. Preparing for Adolescence - This material will be for both parents and the young adult. The material will be taught at the start of the new school year to all 5th through 8th graders and their parents.
College Ready - The transition between high school and college is one of the toughest transitions in anyone’s life. For many, this is the time they drift out of church and away from the Lord. WE DON’T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN. College Ready will be taught in our high school LifeGroups in May.

There are some essential traits for families to grow closer to God and to each other. The three we want every family to concentrate on are:
1. Make a Daily Commitment to the Lord
2. Recognize & Take Advantage of God moments
3. Celebrate Milestones of life (in their life as well as family members)
